seventeen-year-old yusuf has their eyes set on college, because that's the only way they can be a famous singer-songwriter/performer like stevie nicks and have a future. the only problem: they're penniless after being kicked out, and working two jobs to stay afloat means no time for a fancy resume. insert rhiannon, whose mom just died in a car accident with him behind the wheels, leaving an unfinished song. it gets him stuck in the past, unable to move on from the tragic loss. the band his mom built for him and his two friends has a performance coming up, but they're short one member. joining the band, yusuf and rhiannon begin an unlikely friendship that forces them to let go of the futures and pasts. otherwise, they'd lose everything they've worked for, the people they love, and each other. the only way they can do that is to live in the present.​

griffin won't​ let being suddenly unfriended by best friend chuck ruin his summer. a trip to visit his grandparents in bali is the perfect chance to resurrect his semi-popular travel youtube channel hang with kang. he just needs a new videographer since chuck dipped. that's when he met ariel, a camera-savvy teen whose parents' chinese restaurant is struggling to stay open. griffin's youtube channel is the perfect chance to put the restaurant's name back on the map. the question: can they work together, even after griffin catches feelings even though he insists on being straight?

brooklyn has a lot of enemies in the small town of pinecrest, including brother beckett, ex mackenzie, old townie angél, and new townie janelle. when she turns up dead, all evidence points to the four of them.​ it's going to take a lot to exonerate them, especially after they find out brooklyn's death is a much bigger picture than they had anticipated.
